Hello hello n hello!!
This post is all about last Saturday's cake decorating competition. 1st of all I just wanna say it was such a great experience! It took me 2 years to have d guts to enter. Nerve wrecking, the throwing up sensation, hands shaking.. but all of dat i manage to overcome by quickly taking out my ipod n listening to my music. A good way to focus i tell ya! We were only given 1 1/2 hrs to decorate our dummy cake. The theme was SEA. I had this funny twisted yet serious message kinda concept. We were allowed to plan ahead our idea, was given a mystery item to replicate, do figurines in advance and basically place it all together during the competition. My idea was the Little Mermaid........... but like i said... with a twist. Every1 can relate to it. Because i'm a diver, i was thinking 'Save Our Sea' would be a good theme. So how i design the cake was the bad Ursula symbolizes pollution, n Ariel had to wear a mask (ie gas mask) to avoid getting poisoned same goes with other fishes. Flounder looking very sick! Sebastian is pissed off coz he had to pick up the rubbish.
I manage to finish the cake.... in the nick of time! Honestly i tot i did a great job.... N seriously i tot i had a chance to win d Kitchen Aid mixer (was really eyeing dat prize). But when they announced the winner, i only manage to get d consolation prize. I dont wanna sound like a sore loser but i do think i really really had d chance. After all dat, went back home, did sum postmortem on d whole event, n i came to a conclusion. D judges didnt get my sense of humor! HAHAhahaaha. I'm not sayin mine was perfect, it was a tad messy :) but its creative n most importantly has a message. The winners cake was neatly done, solid and looked great especially the Open Category winner.
Anyhow i'm still grateful to be given d chance to participate. Ppl ask if i'm gonna enter for nxt yr... the answer wud be.... HELL YEAH! I want dat bloody Kitchen Aid!
ps: to those who came... luv u all to bits! thanks for d support. At least i won sumthin.. LOL! So it was worth it! and CONGRATS to the WINNERS!!! x
